Jasmine's pups, born yesterday starting around 1 or 2 pm. Unfortunately, they were born under the house. Ronald didn't want me trying to get to her, he was afraid I would get hurt or get sicker while under there from all the dust. This picture was taken about 11 PM last night.
I could hear the poor little ones under there, and I was very worried for Jazz, so about 7 pm, I finally couldn't take it, and I dragged myself and the box (lined with a clean, dry towel) more than 20 feet under the house. I did get within 3 or 4 feet but was blocked by the very hard cement like dirt and a beam. At least there I could touch her muzzle, she wagged her tail, and she seemed okay, so I felt it was okay to wait for Ronald to come home a few hours later. I just couldn't handle the dust (just getting over bacterial pneumonia).
Once he got home, it only took him a short while to get her out. I had set up a trouble light already, and had left the box there for him. He could do more than just wriggle under there--he could actually dig that hard dirt through the dust. Still, he got a lot of bumps and bruises. But he got the pups out safe. Not a single one was lost.
Today she seems to be very happy to be in the house. I am not sure why she was so determined to have them under the house, when we kept bringing her in the last few days to get her used to the big cushions and nice blankets right under a nice heater/ac vent (doesn't blow directly on her though, just near her).
They are some beautiful pups. Almost as pretty as Jasmine.
