Cheeta, the chimpanzee, turned 74 years old yesterday at his home in Palm Springs, California. If you are thinking Cheeta, the old Tarzan movie actor/ape of the '30s and '40s, yes that Cheeta.
He celebrated with a sugar free cake because he is diabetic, but other than that, he's healthy and active. According to his keeper, Dan Westfall, nephew of Cheeta's original trainer, the graying 150 pound ape
still has every tooth in his head," Westfall said Monday.
Cheeta also does artwork for the sanctuary to raise funds; he lives there with five other primates. Here's to hoping he makes it to his century mark....
