An American legal resident, who could have lost his status, was given unsupervised probation for stomping a kitten to death. 

Prosecutors said that Salomon Velazquez Diaz, 46, repeatedly stepped on the black kitten's head on the front stoop of his apartment until it was dead on June 18.

Coalter said Diaz is a lawful permanent resident of the United States. The conviction could result in his deportation.

Asked afterward about his client's motives in killing the cat, Coalter said, "He just didn't think it was wrong."

Let's see.  The FBI says that many serial killers start with killing animals for senseless reasons (i.e. in non-hunting or non-farming situations).  The guy has no remorse for his actions.  Do we really want this guy in the US?
