Brendan McMahon, 36, of New Zealand, is in a Sydney jail charged with cruelty to animals and bestiality after police and RSCPA agents caught up with him. He has been linked to the dead carcases of 13 rabbits and one guinea pig which had been skinned and partially skinned and left on an inner city street in Sydney since July.
McMahon, 36, was in a Sydney court on Friday charged with 18 counts of animal abuse and an act of bestiality with a rabbit on August 1 between 3am and 4am. He also faces two cannabis charges.
....
A New South Wales police spokesman said police worked closely with the RSPCA to find McMahon.
One rabbit was found dead where he was arrested and two were found alive but put down shortly after.
(Emphasis above is mine.)
An act of bestiality which occurred between 3am and 4am? I have to wonder exactly how the police know this...or maybe, on second thought, I don't think I really want to know. Especially since "two were found alive but put down shortly after" sort of indicates the rabbits were skinned alive.
Poor things must have really been messed up by this sicko. According to the story, he paid for one of the last with a credit card and that is how he was tracked down, and his identity was verified by a video camera at the pet shop. Isn't it wonderful what technology can do?
I hope the RSCPA and the Sydney police are able to keep this guy from ever getting near any kind of animal again.
(Come to think of it, don't lots of serial killers start with animals? Guess he shouldn't be around people either....)
