The motor we have on the Luger is extremely old for a boat motor--it is 40 to 50 years old.  It is a Clinton 6 horsepower long shank motor. 

It works pretty well for an ancient motor, but Ron was ready to toss it overboard when the cord broke while we were on the water.  He was trying to get it started because we were drifting into a very large fishing pier.  The boat banged against the pilings and if the girls hadn't been on the deck pushing us away from the pier, the boat would have gone under it and ripped off its mast.

So I am in the hunt for a newer long shank low horsepower motor.
