Christine has her own page on the UH website.  Her father and I are busy emailing it to everyone we know....which is probably why she never told us about it!
View Article  Bean Soup with Ham Hocks

Today the high temperature has supposedly already occurred--at midnight.  Since it is going to get a little chilly and wet outside, I decided yesterday to buy one of those bags of 15 bean soup.

The beans soaked for about eleven hours, up to about 4 AM.  Then I started the cooking, and in less than half an hour, I will have a big pot of 15 Bean Soup with Ham Hocks.

Everytime I go into the kitchen to check the soup, I have Friends.  As in, four cats and two little dogs. They are being so Friendly, I keep falling over them on the way to the stove.  Gee, they almost make me feel special....

...and his piece of Showtime dreck "Homecoming" proves it.  (I will not link to his piece of crap in any way shape or form.)

I wonder if Showtime cares that it just insulted every person in uniform with this piece of crapola...but I doubt it.  Showtime is run by a bunch of anti-American anti-military limp dick losers--gee, it sounds like Joe Dante himself.

Why am I so pissed with this piece of crap?  Because it essentially says "the only good soldier is a DEAD soldier" (since it is only the dead soldiers that will vote Democrat).  Yup, gotta love lefties, the only time they love soldiers is when they are dead.  That way, they can use the dead soldiers as props for whatever little anti-American bullshit they want to palm over on people.

Too bad the big one hasn't hit yet; it would be great if Hollyweird would just fall into the sea along with the rest of the Left Coast.

Weird rock (possibly bone) from the ranch

My parents found this rock at the ranch.  I saw it when I was down there, and asked if I could try to find out more about it.  It has been a bit harder than I thought to get ideas about how to investigate it.  The best Texas resource person I found about it has one of those horrible sucky email programs that bounces your email back and then you have to click a link and yada, yada, yada....

I have posted three pictures of it, click on the thumbnails for larger images.  The second picture is much bigger than the other two, and takes a minute to load.  The first picture is above; it shows what looks like cut marks.  The second picture is of the middle of the 'oreo', the lighter area sandwiched between either of the two flat sides.  The third picture is of the "marrow" looking side, which appears porous, and includes more of the cut marks.

I have had it down here a month without success.  Needless to say, I am getting frustrated.  I have always been fascinated by rocks, and this one is just plain weird, and I would love to get more information. This whole thing could be nothing, but then again, it does look like a cut up fossilized bone. (We have found very old arrowheads, spearpoints, and scrapers in the general area, but this appears much, much older than those.) If you have any ideas about it or of who I could contact, please comment or email me.   Thanks.

View Article  Russian squirrels kill stray dog

Black Russian wild squirrels dropped from a tree onto a big dog that had been barking at them...and tore him to shreds.  When people tried to stop the attack, the squirrels ran off with bits of their kill.  Some people believe the squirrels were extremely hungry due to a lack of pinecones in the area.

View Article  Moveon.org gets it wrong again....UPDATE

UPDATE:

Since yesterday, Moveon.org Photoshopped the image to put pants on the British soldier in shorts, skewed the colors and darkened the whole photo (apparently trying to make the British camo look like American camo).  Guess what, the result still sucked.

================================

Okay, how dumb is this: Moveon.org wants to embarrass the Bush administration, so they do an ad about how many American soldiers are in Iraq for Thanksgiving.  Which is fine, that is a legit point to make, if you have asked a soldier and they have complained.

Except, of course, they didn't ask any soldiers if they were upset about being in Iraq for Thanksgiving.  In fact, though their ad featured soldiers, there were no Americans in the ads at all.  Only British soldiers.

British Troops in Ad

First of all, I don't think any Americans can wear shorts in uniform.  The shirts, pants, and boots are all wrong.  The camo pattern is wrong.  These are not Americans, they are our allies, the British.

Many people believe that Moveon.org does not support our troops.  Heck, it must be so--how can they support people they can't even identify?
