Who says sailboats can't be fishing boats?  I caught the nice redfish above off our little Luger Southwind.  The cutting board is 18" long; the redfish was just over 21 1/2" long.  We also caught some nice sized sandtrout (which are usually very small).  The one in the front was over 16" long and we had several more in that size range.  In total, we ended up with three gallon sized ziplocks of fish.  We threw back many other small fish (except for the badly gill hooked fish, of course...they just die if put back in the water).

These fish were caught November 7th.  It was a great fishing day.  It was also a beautiful day for sailing, and there were MANY sailboats out on the bay.  More than either of us had ever seen.  So, of course, we forgot our camera.

Ron has made adjustments to the Luger to make it easier for me to fish.  He raised where the boom attaches to the mast so I can cast without getting fouled every cast.  It is still difficult to cast, but I have purchased a very short casting rod.  The smaller sail area makes the boat a little bit slower, but we never bought the boat to race on; we bought it to enjoy.  He enjoys sailing and I enjoy fishing, so this is our compromise.  Of course, the thing both of us enjoy the most is the chance to be alone together.  Since all of the girls are terrified of the sailboat, we get to be alone together every time we go out....
