Stop the ACLU has a write up about Louisiana politicians voting on a law to return to the concrete written word of the Constitution. Very good article about one of the few good things to come out of Louisiana in recent history.

...especially since it isn't true. A painful bond lesson for the Angleton Chamber of Commerce, maybe, but for the rest of the taxpayers in Brazoria County, music to our ears. If voters thought rejecting the bond proposal would be painful, they wouldn't have rejected it. But after taxes have gone through the roof in the last couple of years (ours have quintupled), another additional tax so our Fairgrounds could be replaced with a "Convention Center" seemed pretty ridiculous. Besides, who in hell wants to have a Fair at a Convention Center anyways? Even Houston doesn't do that. Oh yeah, let's wear three piece suits to the BBQ cook off.....it is just so not Brazoria County. If the BCFA wants a new Fairgrounds, that I might could get behind, if it is a reasonable price and if it is actually a Fairgrounds. But a "Convention Center" that loses $600k to $800k a year in it's early years and may never show a profit? Go sell your snake oil somewhere else, folks. Sunday, November 27

In Thorndale, Texas, a 76 year old woman was mauled to death by a pack of six rott/pit mix breed dogs. They attacked her as she was mowing her lawn. A man who attempted to help her was also bitten. Sherriff's investigators found the dogs later at the home of her next door neighbor, but haven't determined if they will file charges against the owner. Due to the blood lines of these dogs and their obvious aggressive behavior, I wonder if they were being used for dog fighting.

First seen on AIR where Sir George fisks a Washington Post spin-a-thon quite deftly. Sweetness & Light has some hilarious pictures of old Sheehan at a book signing and nobody came. Some people just don't know when their fifteen minutes are up.

This afternoon I was on the phone with my mom, when I looked outside and saw a man at our mailbox. It looked like he took something out of it, but I wasn't really sure. I do know it looked like he was carrying something. I ran into the bedroom and told Ron, who got up and ran outside. When I saw Ron grab one of the guns, I got off the phone with my mom, so I could tell Ron to put the gun up. (Which he did.) By the time Ron got out there, the guy had walked down the road a bit and turned into another property. There was mail in the box, but I was expecting some DVDs to come in, and they weren't there. However, our mail gets mixed up out here all the time and maybe he was just putting some of our mail in our box and found some of his in ours. I don't know. I guess I should call the post office tomorrow and ask the carrier if there was a package. I will say the guy was lucky. His behavior pissed our dogs off so bad they were bouncing off the hot wire trying to get to him. Bondelia, Jasmine, and Annie Oakley wanted him on the menu, and were willing to take some pain to get to him.

Let's face it; I don't blog about wildly entertaining stuff to most people. But at least I blog honestly, and link to interesting stuff on other's sites when I find something I really like. And my blog links are to sites I really read, not fakes to up my ranking in any blog list. (Notice, I actually link to blogs that don't link to me...because I read those blogs, whether or not they have ever read anything I will ever post.) So I am adding myself to the TTLB Ecosystem. Right now I am really, really at the bottom. I expect to stay there, since I have never been a link slut. Oh well. Such is life. |
