As every G-Fan knows, Godzilla deserved his star ages ago.  He finally got it before the premiere of his "last" film, Godzilla: Final Wars .

Yes, I know, how many "last" films has Godzilla had?  So what?  Star Trek only had one really decent film (Wrath), and they kept it up for a long, long, time after that one.

Godzilla, on the other hand, was the "big guy" when I was a little kid.  Nothing quite like watching a monster stomp Toyko when you are the littlest kid in the class and wished to be stomping the bigger kids who made life hell for everyone.  Godzilla was both PC and un-PC; he showed that there were dangers to radiation, but at the same time, the military was always using cool stuff to try and bring him down. But Godzilla was always "the Dude"; he never really went away, he just got some shut-eye in a volcano somewhere.

So yes, I realize they say this is his "last" film.  It must get sort of boring after 50 years to keep stomping Toyko flat.  Here's to hoping he gets tired of his retirement and keeps this old G-fan watching...
