This was Christine's scramble heifer, Chili Pepper. She would be an old breeder cow by now, but she was still a young sweet heifer when this picture was taken.
We were sure our cows were wild animals, not tame in the least. We were surprised when David Weber (Wynona's husband; Wynona is my best friend) said they were very tame and sweet. I guess we were just spoiled to good natured animals.
Certainly Cordelia and Chili were better tempered than their moms. We got these two heifers from my parents' ranch, and their mothers were as wild as back country cattle can be. But these two little ladies liked us, let us scratch their backs, and brush them down. I guess we just expected them to be like horses--actively looking for people to pet on them.
