My copy of Godzilla Final Wars

I just got my Godzilla Final Wars DVD.  I waited until I could get something in English, either subbed or dubbed. I bought it off of eBay, but I couldn't find any subbed DVDs, just dubbed DVDs. 

This has got to be one of the worst dubbing jobs in the history of Godzilla movies.  It is bad enough when the words don't follow the mouth movements, but in this case, visually the words start before the audio track or end before the audio track.  In some cases, it was possible to see the actors talking, and no audio was issued.

It really detracted from the movie.  The second time through, I actually fast forwarded through the talking and went straight to the fighting parts.  Made for a much better movie.

UPDATE and CLARIFICATION: After posting, someone emailed me (a shy G-Fan, who doesn't want to be known as such) and asked if I liked the movie.  HELL YES.  Godzilla has his blue fire back, he kicks the ass of the limpzoid American so-called Godzilla, kicks the ass of a bunch of other monsters, and the aliens are still as silly as ever (even in black leather...weirdly, that makes them Goth Godzilla aliens, a real comedy act...)

So, in other words, the only thing I disliked about this movie was the dubbing.  If it had been subbed, I think it would be one of the top Godzilla movies ever.  Japanese movies really need to be seen in Japanese to get the real feel for performance of the actors in the show.  Just like anime needs to be seen in the original Japanese and subbed to get the full impact of the characterizations.

Subbing is just plain superior.
