View Article  Over 130 Show sheep killed by train after being chased by dog

In Utah, a dog owner did not restrain his pet...and 130 show sheep, valued at over $1300 each (total value approximately $170,000) were chased by that dog onto a Union Pacific railroad track and killed by a train.

The sheep owners had been breeding their show stock for 20 years and refining that stock for that entire time.  All that hard work is now gone; only eight of their herd survived and the ewes lost the lambs they were carrying due to the stress of the attack.

The dog owner said he was sorry.  I don't think "sorry" covers the lives of those sheep or the cost to their owners.

When a family got suspicious about tire tracks and foot prints on their family farm, they installed motion sensors....and caught a man who has now plead no contest to sexually abusing their calves at least 50 times in the last year.

Unsurprisingly, the judge has ordered the man to undergo pscyh counseling in addition to getting help for his alcohol problems and two years of probation.

A Bryan College Station woman has been indicted for a $5 million cattle scam.  This seems pretty strange to me, considering none of the cattle ranchers I know aren't that well off.

Lisa Camarillo Smith bilked 160 investors out of the money; she was charged with 26 different federal fraud counts, with each charge a possible 20 years in federal prison and a $250000 fine.

She pretended to be a post-doc at Texas A & M doing genetic research, and purchasing fake cattle from the King Ranch and three other ranches for $600 per head ($600 per head from the KING RANCH, what a loon!).  She isn't a student at TAMU, and never purchased cattle from any of the ranches she told the investors about.

Frankly, investors in any kind of genetic research need to contact the institution for bona fides before handing over any money.  But then, these people thought King Ranch sold cattle at $600 per head....
